Nancy Fisher initially began working in the child welfare system as a foster parent in 1985. In 1991, she became a foster parent trainer for the State and provided pre-service and in-service training for foster parents until 2003. In 1995, she began working for White’s Residential and Family Services where she worked extensively with foster parents. She then developed the post adoption services program for Northern Indiana, developing programs and services for adoptive families.
Fisher served as the Director of Adult and Children Services at LifeTouch Ministries and Counseling Center, and now works as a therapist for Family Concern Counseling. She also provides trauma-informed care training to mental health practitioners across the state of Indiana. Fisher is trained in Adoption Competency, Attachment-Based Parenting, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, EMDR, Nurturing Parenting, Theraplay, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Care.
Nancy and her husband Jim were foster parents for 23 years and adopted four teen boys during their time as foster parents. They also have three biological sons.
